Tuesday, April 13, 2010 at 12:31 pm by Erin

We often get asked by clients, “How do I keep my website fresh and looking up to date?”. The simple answer being – keep your website content fresh! Website content can be anything from text, images, charts, PDFs and other graphics. Keeping your web content accurate and current is key.
Don’t you find it a pain when you come across a website that hasn’t been updated since 1999 and it’s now 2010?
Keeping your website content fresh and up to date is easy if you build your website on a CMS or content management system. A CMS allows you to edit certain pages, text, images and menus on your website without having to be a web programmer. Common CMS’ these days are Drupal, Joomla and WordPress.
In addition to using a CMS to update your website content, how about creating fresh, interesting and new content using a blog. Blogs not only allow you to express your opinion and provide your readers with useful information, but a blog can help position you as an expert in your field if you’re providing your readers with relevant and newsworthy information.
And last, but not least - treat your website like any other piece of marketing material. Your website should be re-evaluated every 2 -3 years. The development of new web browsers, new technology and new design trends are constantly emerging. It’s important to step back and take a look at your website every few years if you want to remain current and fresh.
Keep these few tips in mind and your website is sure to look fresh, current and up to date in no time!
